Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
