Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.
A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to water systems, per reports from local authorities.
At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.
Moscow has increased attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.
"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing protection systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a online statement.
Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.
Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.
A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.
Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.
Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under heavy assaults overnight. A young boy died and three other people were wounded.
The attacks succeed periods of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.
The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.
Government officials told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.
