19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
